One-command installer

Run OpenClaw on Chutes.Your self-hosted AI assistant, in the chats you already use.

OpenClaw is an open-source, self-hosted AI assistant whose gateway connects agents to chat channels such as Discord, Slack, Telegram, and WhatsApp. This installer sets it up with Chutes as the model provider, so your agents run on open-source models served through the Chutes OpenAI-compatible API.

Get started in one command

Terminal

curl -fsSL https://chutes.ai/openclaw/init | sh

Sign in to generate a pre-authenticated install command.

How it works

From install to a running gateway and a first reply from Chutes.

01

Install

Run one command on macOS, Linux, or Windows (PowerShell). It checks for Node.js and npm, then installs the openclaw package from npm.

02

Authenticate

Create a key at chutes.ai/app/settings/api-keys, then paste it when prompted or set CHUTES_API_KEY before running the command. Signed in? Generate a pre-authenticated command on this page.

03

Chat

The installer starts the gateway on localhost:18789 and sends a test prompt through Chutes. Then talk to your agent with openclaw tui or connect a chat channel.

What you get

Your assistant, in your chats

OpenClaw is an open-source, self-hosted AI assistant. Its gateway runs on your own machine and connects agents to chat channels such as Discord, Slack, Telegram, and WhatsApp.

Chutes preconfigured

The installer adds Chutes as an OpenAI-compatible provider at https://llm.chutes.ai/v1 and loads the current model list from GET /v1/models.

Local gateway

The gateway binds to localhost on port 18789. Open the control UI with openclaw dashboard, chat in the terminal with openclaw tui, and check health with openclaw status --all.

Model list updates

The installer writes an update script to ~/.openclaw that refreshes the Chutes model list, and offers to schedule it to run every 4 hours.
